A one-day satellite workshop, organised by the 2D-BioPAD project, will take place on October 1, 2025 during the NanoBalkan Conference 2025 in Tirana, Albania. The workshop will explore how very thin materials, like graphene, MXenes, and other 2D materials, can be used in neuroscience and biomedicine.

Speakers from both industry and universities will share their latest work. Topics will include implantable electrodes, biosensors, and drug delivery systems. The goal is to bring together scientists and engineers from different fields to talk about new ideas and tools.

  • Makis Angelakeris (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece): Magnetic nanoparticles as biosensing boosters
  • Fatouros Dimitrios (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece): Engineering 3D-Printed Microneedles for Transdermal Delivery in Alzheimer’s Disease
  • Sandeep Kumar (NOVAPTECH, France): Title to be defined
  • Alessandro Silvestri (Università Ca' Foscari Venezia, Italy): Electrochemical Sensors for the detection of neurotransmitters: from plasma to in-vitro neurodegenerative models

Because the workshop is part of the larger NanoBalkan event, which runs from September 29 to October 3, all participants will also get to join other sessions and networking events throughout the week.
