Our partner Alzheimer Hellas, together with the Panhellenic Institute of Neurodegenerative Diseases and the School of Medicine of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, organised the Hybrid Scientific Symposium "Controversies in Dementia Prevention - Part 1: Vascular Risk Factors".
The symposium marked the first event in a new series of scientific meetings aimed at presenting current scientific evidence and different perspectives on dementia prevention. The first edition focused on the role of vascular risk factors in the development of cognitive impairment and dementia, exploring the latest findings on hypertension, dyslipidemia, obesity, and diabetes mellitus.
The event brought together researchers, physicians, and healthcare professionals from different fields, who took part in 20 scientific debates to discuss current evidence and prevention strategies for neurodegenerative diseases.
During the symposium, the 2D-BioPAD project was presented, highlighting its work on advancing biomarker research for neurodegenerative diseases. A presentation entitled "The Future: Biomarkers" also explored the growing role of biomarkers in the early detection and prevention of dementia.
The symposium provided an excellent opportunity to exchange knowledge, strengthen collaboration, and promote discussions on innovative approaches to dementia prevention.
