For the third consecutive year, 2D-BioPAD and MUNASET joined forces during Graphene Week 2026 to organise their joint workshop, “Biomedical Applications.”
The workshop brought together researchers working at the intersection of graphene, biosensing and biomedical technologies, showcasing how graphene-enabled biosensors, bioelectronics and integrated diagnostic platforms are opening new possibilities for precision medicine and advanced diagnostics.
The session highlighted emerging biomedical technologies developed through leading European collaborative research initiatives, demonstrating the potential of graphene and other two-dimensional materials to support more sensitive, accessible and innovative approaches to disease detection and health monitoring.
A strong contribution came from the ICN2 team, with three presentations covering innovative applications of graphene-based sensing technologies:
- Ruslan Alvarez Diduk presented "rGO Nanocomposite Interfaces for Practical Electrochemical Sensing in Health and the Environment"
- Danilo Echeverri presented "Electrochemical Nanobiosensors Based on Laser-Engraved Reduced Graphene Oxide (rGO) Electrodes for the Detection of Alzheimer’s Disease Biomarkers"
- Marianna Rossetti closed the workshop with "CRISPR/Cas12a-Powered Graphene-Based Electrochemical Platform for High-Risk HPV Screening"
The workshop provided an opportunity for the 2D-BioPAD and MUNASET projects to exchange knowledge, showcase research progress and explore synergies in graphene-enabled biomedical applications.
